How US, EU / China and mm sizes relate
US sizes count in thirds of an inch and are different for men, women and kids. Shoes sold in mainland China are usually marked with the European “Paris point” size (码, ⅔ cm per size), so “China size” and “EU size” are the same number on most boxes. The third number on a box — CM, JP or a three-digit mm figure like 260 — is a length-based size close to foot length.
China’s national standard GB/T 3293.1-1998 (中国鞋号) uses foot length in millimetres in 5 mm steps — the same idea as Mondopoint (ISO 9407), which also adds foot width (e.g. 265/100). That is why a Chinese size “250” or “25 号” means a 25 cm foot. Because each brand uses its own lasts, the same foot can be half a size different between brands; the chart above is Nike’s, which most sneaker shops follow.

What is a US men’s size 9 in China?
A US men’s 9 is EU / China 42.5 and CM/JP 27 (the box shows 270) on Nike’s chart. Many Chinese shops round it to 42 or 43, so check the brand’s own chart or the cm number.
How do I convert women’s US sizes to China sizes?
Use the women’s table: US women’s 7 = EU 38 = 24 cm, US 8 = EU 39 = 25 cm. A rough rule is China/EU ≈ US women’s + 31. Women’s sizes run 1 to 1.5 larger than men’s for the same length: on Nike’s charts men’s 8 and women’s 9 are both 26 cm, while unisex sneakers are labeled women’s = men’s + 1.5.
